New York / Chicago—May 8, 2008— IdeaCast, Inc., a leading provider of custom television content and advertising in the away-from-home video category, and LiveTV, the world’s leading provider of live in-flight entertainment for commercial airlines, have announced a new strategic partnership. Effective immediately, IdeaCast has exclusive advertising sales rights to LiveTV video assets on the in-seat entertainment video screens on Continental Airlines, the fifth largest airline in the world, and Frontier Airlines, a rapidly growing airline now serving 60 North American destinations.
The new offering, called Airline TV, is projected to reach 21 million passengers by the end of 2009,
and up to 45 million passengers by 2010.
"LiveTV is the pioneer of a new model of in-flight entertainment. Gone are the days when consumers were content to share their movies and shows with the rest of the cabin. Today, consumers are used to more personalized service, and they want their entertainment to be tailored to them, as well,” said Jason Brown, President of Sales and Marketing, IdeaCast. “LiveTV's airline network is the perfect addition to our family of away-from-home video venues. It reaches consumers eager for content at a place where they are focused and paying attention, creating a valuable messaging opportunity for marketers."
Continental Airlines has more than 3,100 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, serving 145 domestic and 138 international destinations. Beginning in January 2009, Continental’s domestic fleet of next generation Boeing 737s and its 757-300 aircraft will be retrofit with LiveTV’s in-seat satellite TV system, which delivers up to 36 channels of live DIRECTV programming, four channels of stored content, and a real-time GPS map channel.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines, a LiveTV customer since 2002, flies to more than 60 destinations
across the U.S. and into Canada and Mexico.
"We're pleased to be working with IdeaCast, a company at the forefront of the emerging away-from-home video market," said Nate Quigley, Chief Executive of LiveTV. "IdeaCast's management team and seasoned sales force have an excellent grasp on the full potential of this relatively new form of media, and they know how to translate it into results for marketers seeking to reach consumers on the go."
IdeaCast's complete network of offerings now includes Airline TV, Health Club TV,
Transit TV, Six Flags TV, and an alignment with Gas Station TV.
