Samsung Shuffles Management and Company Structure
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — Samsung Electronics has announced a major management reshuffle, its second this year. Samsung replaced its existing structure of two large business units with one consisting of seven independent companies under a single corporate structure, the company said.
The new structure of stand-alone companies was to "create a more focused and responsive business structure," said Choi Gee Sung, the company's newly appointed chief executive officer.
Samsung is the world's largest producer of memory chips and liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions as well as the second-largest mobile phone maker. Choi has been heading Samsung's consumer electronics and mobile phone divisions since the beginning of this year when the company originally combined its LCD and chipmaking units in its first major reshuffle.
